Andrea Holcombe is the Director of Human Resources and Administration and brings over 20 years of nonprofit management experience to her role. Prior to joining Spirit of America, Andrea was the director of board relations at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) and chief of staff at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (Washington, D.C.). Andrea also served as the senior manager of administration at the Brookings Institution’s Global Economy and Development research program.

Andrea comes from a military family. Her father served in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps of the Navy and on the USS Saratoga. Andrea’s family had duty stations in Washington, D.C.; Jacksonville, Florida; Holy Loch, Scotland; Pearl Harbor; and Yokosuka, Japan. Andrea’s uncle also served three combat tours in Vietnam with Company H, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, and 3rd Marine Division, and was awarded the Silver Star.

Andrea has an M.A. in Peace and Development Studies from the University of Limerick (Ireland) and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Washington (Seattle).
