Dan Hewitt
Regional Program Manager – Latin America

Dan joined Spirit of America in July 2018 as the Latin America Project Manager.
Prior to joining Spirit of America, Dan served on active duty with the US Army for more than eight years. He finished his active duty time with the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), headquartered at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
As a civil affairs officer, Dan worked with Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) where he led US civil affairs teams in Colombia and Panama to support partner nation security forces to foster and improve civil-military relationships with the communities that they serve in and strive to protect.
Before that, he served as a multimedia detachment commander attached to Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT). Dan worked in Qatar to provide multimedia support to US and allied commanders and develop messaging products in support of Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.
Dan was commissioned as a signal officer in 2009. He served in the 1st Signal Brigade as a signal platoon leader and company executive officer in South Korea.
Before joining the Army, Dan earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
