Update from the field: COVID-19 projects in 23 countries

Greetings,

It’s been three months since the coronavirus pushed much of the country into lockdown. America’s men and women remain deployed around the world during this crisis, and Spirit of America has helped them respond to urgent coronavirus-related needs.

Working with U.S. troops and diplomats, we implemented 30 coronavirus-related projects in 23 countries. These projects demonstrated America’s commitment to our partners, friends, and allies in times of crisis, and offered a positive response to anti-American misinformation from Russia and China. A few highlights:

  • Spirit of America’s locally sourced personal protective equipment donations in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were recognized by Secretary of State Pompeo and the State Department.
  • Nearly 30 types of seeds were provided to 68 Montenegro households involved in rural tourism to help feed their families and their communities. U.S. Ambassador Reinke captured her visit to one family to see the impact on rural development.
  • A U.S. Special Operations Joint Task Force highlighted our donation of 3,400 face masks and 30,000 disposable gloves to Iraqi partner forces conducting quarantine support and ongoing counter-ISIS operations.
  • U.S. European Command promoted our donation of 2,700 face masks that Ukrainian soldiers distributed to local civilians in need.

U.S. troops and partners unload Spirit of America-donated medical supplies in Laos.

Your support has been critical in allowing us to respond quickly and provide exactly the assistance that our troops and diplomats tell us is needed on the ground. Thank you.

Finally, I thought you would be interested in reading “The pandemic will make America stronger,” a column by Spirit of America Advisory Board member Dr. Kori Schake.

I hope you and your family are staying healthy.
