ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Right now, soldiers from America’s 4th Infantry Division (ID) are deployed in Poland. They were sent there as part of Atlantic Resolve, a demonstration of continued US commitment to peace and security in the region and the reassurance of NATO allies. Poland is one of the United States’ strongest allies in Central Europe. It is also uniquely located in that it offers the only corridor for the rapid movement of NATO forces from Central to Northern Europe.

When US soldiers visited the Mielenko Drawskim elementary school to meet with students and participate in classes, they identified the need for bookcases for their library.

US soldiers from 4th ID’s 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, visiting local schools on their off time went above and beyond their professional duty when they adopted an elementary school near the Polish base where they were training. Their desire to make an impact in the lives of the children and enhance their ties with the local community says a lot about the kind of men and women these soldiers are. After visiting the Mielenku Drawskim elementary school on their off time to meet the students and participate in a class, the soldiers noticed that the school was in need of bookcases for the library. Spirit of America can meet that need.

This heartwarming example of two communities coming together from thousands of miles away has already had a positive impact on not only the soldiers involved, but on the children of Mielenko Drawkim school, their teachers, and the greater community. The people of the area have a concrete example that America cares about them and is committed to working together. With your support, Spirit of America can provide bookcases for these students and strengthen the bonds between these two great nations.
