Spirit of America is working with US forces in northeast Syria to help children in areas recently liberated from ISIS control. We are providing school supplies and funding classroom repairs so the children can get back to school in September. These children have suffered greatly, living through the atrocities of ISIS rule and a civil war. Education was neglected for years due to the conflict.
Helping Syrian youth return to school will significantly improve the outlook for their futures, make US troops safer, and help prevent further conflict in the fragile region. It will also help counter the psychological damages inflicted on the children during ISIS occupation.
There are more than 11,000 students in the liberated areas. They need desks as well as pens, pencils, notepads, backpacks, crayons, and other supplies. The cost for the school supplies and classroom equipment is approximately $25 per student. Providing the needed items at the start of school in September will help US troops capitalize on the momentum created by defeating ISIS in the areas where SoA will provide assistance.
Spirit of America’s field representatives are working alongside US soldiers to ensure that our assistance is provided where it will have the greatest impact.
