ABOUT THIS PROJECT

After eight years of war, first responders in Raqqa are in desperate need of training and equipment to provide emergency services to Syrians recently liberated from ISIS.

Infrastructure for civil services in Raqqa was effectively destroyed during the ISIS occupation. Following the city’s liberation from ISIS in the fall of 2017, essential services such as fire and EMS had to be rebuilt from scratch by the local government, as well as US and Coalition partners.

First responders, such as those pictured above, are desperately needed in Raqqa.

Emergency medical teams face difficult challenges in providing basic services to their local community on a daily basis. These challenges are exacerbated by acts of terror committed by ISIS terrorists that remain concealed within the population, explosive remnants of war, and the threat of a return to large scale violence as the fate of Syria is determined.

The first responders receiving their US-led training certificates and SoA-funded medical supplies. With your support, we can ensure these firefighters are able to save lives in Raqqa for years to come.

A US Army team in Syria recently reached out to SoA to identify the need for emergency medical supplies and equipment for the Raqqa Fire Department. The supplies, along with medical training provided by US Special Operations Forces medics, will ensure that first responders can provide desperately needed emergency services for their beleaguered community.

Help us empower first responders to rebuild their communities in the wake of ISIS’s brutality.
