Thomas Morgan Jr. is a Managing Director and Private Wealth Advisor at Morgan Stanley and has Portfolio Manager responsibilities for the Republic Group’s Master Limited Partnerships portfolio. With over twenty years’ experience as a financial advisor, Thomas has an amazing aptitude for connecting with clients and gaining a comprehensive understanding of their investment management and wealth management issues, needs, and concerns. Thomas began his career in the Private Clients Services Group at Goldman Sachs in 1993 where he worked diligently to become a self-sustaining investment advisor and served in multiple team relationships.
Leaving Goldman Sachs in 2009 with a desire to build a world class investment advisory team, a profound interest in developing wealth management solutions and an entrepreneurial spirit, Thomas joined Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management organization, where he built the Republic Group. His colleagues value Thomas’ willingness to go to any length for the greater good of the team while maintaining a positive attitude coupled with a “no excuses” commitment to results for team clients. A unique leader with a strong military background, Thomas has created a competitively fun environment centered on client focused values, teamwork and high achievement. Great success is achieved with discipline and a commitment to hard work. These have been central tenets of Thomas’ academic, athletic and professional career.
Thomas graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1983 with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering where he was also a member of the Army Football team. Thomas served in the U.S. Army for eight years, and attended a number of advanced training schools including air assault, airborne, ranger and Rotary Wing Aviator Course, in which he qualified as a helicopter pilot. Thomas served in Camp Casey, Korea flying utility and scout helicopters and had the honor to serve at Fort Hood Texas where he was selected to command an attack helicopter unit flying the AH-64 Apache.
After completing his military service, Thomas attended the Harvard Business School, where he earned an MBA in Finance and General Management. Thomas grew up in El Paso, Texas where he went to Parkland High School, home of the Fighting Matadors. Thomas played the drums in his high school band, was captain of the football team and Vice President of his graduating class. Thomas’ current interests include fitness, sports and everything in the wild outdoors, especially hunting. Thomas has his various lease properties in South and West Texas. Thomas has a personal commitment to his faith, his family, his fitness and his healthy lifestyle. He currently serves on Spirit of America’s Board of Directors.
