About Spirit of America

We are the only nonprofit that works alongside deployed American troops and diplomats. We help local people and partners in ways government can’t.

Our Mission

Spirit of America is a privately funded nonprofit founded in response to the attacks of 9/11. We work alongside U.S. troops and diplomats around the world to identify places where America’s help is needed most. They identify needs, gaps, and problems. With private sector speed and flexibility, we deliver assistance that helps our partners defend freedom, strengthen security, and save and improve lives.

Our mission is to engage citizens in preserving the promise of a free and better life. With the support of Americans like you, we have:

• Delivered over $73 million in lifesaving assistance to citizens and soldiers defending their freedom in Ukraine, helping them liberate territory, safeguard billions of dollars in equipment, and save tens of thousands of lives.

• Worked closely with our troops, diplomats, and local partners across the Middle East to counter extremism, promote stability, and create opportunity for young people through education.

• Empowered tens of thousands of Taiwanese people to strengthen their democracy by mobilizing civilian-led crisis response networks, training first responders, and strengthening the government’s capacity to address crises.

• And helped U.S. troops in West Africa diminish the power of extremist groups by strengthening communities and partners most vulnerable to their recruitment.
