100% of your donation to a specific project goes to the expenses of implementing the project and providing the assistance you choose. Restricted donations in excess of a project’s need will be offered a refund.

How it Works
- Name Spirit of America as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified plan.
- Designate Spirit of America to receive all or a portion of the balance through your plan administrator.
- Your plan assets will pass to Spirit of America as designated after your death.
Benefits
- Continue to take regular lifetime withdrawals.
- You can revoke us as a beneficiary if your needs change.
- Avoid the double taxation your retirement savings would incur if you designated your heir(s) as beneficiary(ies).
- Nonprofits are able to receive 100% of the proceeds as opposed to a tax-paying beneficiary which would only be able to receive a percentage.
IRA Contributions
If you’re 70 ½ or older, you can use the IRA charitable rollover to make a tax-free gift to Spirit of America. This law allows you to transfer any amount up to $100,000 directly to a qualified charitable organization without paying income tax on the distribution.
When making a donation from your IRA:
- You pay no income taxes on the gift.
- The transfer doesn’t generate taxable income or a tax deducation, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deducations.
- If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution for the year, your IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of the requirement.
- Lastly, because your gift will be put to use today, you will be able to see the impact of your support in the making.
