Cecelia Spearing serves as Vice President of Communications and External Relations at Spirit of America, where she leads the organization’s strategic communications and external relations strategy. With more than 15 years of experience in global communications, Cecelia joined Spirit of America in 2025 to unite Americans with US troops and diplomats in common cause: defending American values, strengthening security, and saving lives.

Prior to her role at Spirit of America, Cecelia led enterprise communications at Chemonics International, a leading implementing partner delivering US foreign assistance programs in more than 160 countries. Earlier in her career, she shaped global health communications strategies for a nonprofit in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where she amplified the impact of historic US-led global health initiatives such as the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

A former Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania, Cecelia holds a bachelor’s degree in digital media from the University of Alabama. She is based in Washington, DC, where she lives with her husband and son.
