Lauren Stowe is the Chief Legal Officer at Spirit of America. She is a seasoned legal and policy executive with over two decades of experience spanning the US federal government, private sector, and non-profit organizations.

Lauren has held senior legal and advisory roles, including General Counsel at Silverado Policy Accelerator and Deputy General Counsel for a private family foundation. In these roles, she led legal compliance, corporate governance, and financial operations across diverse entities, including LLC’s, C-Corp’s, and philanthropic organizations. Her leadership was instrumental in securing funding, establishing inclusive internship programs, and enhancing operational efficiency and compliance in complex regulatory environments.

Lauren’s distinguished public service includes her tenure as Director of International Market Development at the Department of Energy, where she led strategic initiatives to expand US energy technology exports and strengthen global energy diplomacy. She served as Deputy Assistant United States Trade Representative, where she managed the entry into force and implementation of the USMCA free trade agreement environment chapter and led high-stakes trade negotiations with Peru and other trading partners. At the Department of State, she played a pivotal role in multilateral environmental diplomacy, advancing US interests in global treaty forums and fostering international cooperation on critical environmental and trade issues. Her early career focused on international legal advocacy and human rights, with impactful work in Latin America addressing gender-based violence, human trafficking, and indigenous rights.

Lauren holds a JD from American University Washington College of Law, an MA in International Development from Brandeis University, and a BA from the University of Colorado Boulder. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar, the Virginia State Bar, and the Supreme Court of the United States Bar, and is fluent in Spanish. Her career reflects a deep commitment to public service, legal excellence, and advancing US leadership on the global stage.
