Michael Hand joined Spirit of America in August 2022 as the Senior Manager of Donor Relations.

Before joining Spirit of America, Michael worked at George Mason University as the Assistant Director of Development for the College of Education and Human Development. He worked to engage with 30,000 Alumni through communications and events. Prior to Mason, Michael was the Foundation Manager for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Research and Education Foundation, working to bring education and awareness to 25,000 members, who were invested in the mission and vision of systemic family therapy.

Michael is a graduate of Longwood University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science. Michael’s family has a long history of service to our country with two grandfathers who served in WWII, two uncles who were Vietnam War veterans, and a cousin who is currently a Department Head at Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command. Michael grew up in Cape May Court House, NJ and currently lives in Centreville, VA with his wife and two rescue dogs, Reagan and Chico.
