Afghanistan: What you can do to help
The tragic situation in Afghanistan is heartbreaking — one that all of us Americans, regardless of our political stripes and our views on the two-decade-long conflict, can unite behind. Our Spirit of America team is helping Afghans being evacuated by the United States. This includes Afghans and their families who risked their lives working with our troops, and who embraced the promise of a free and better life.
We have team members on the ground in the Gulf region, Central Asia, and Europe, working side by side with the US military and providing humanitarian aid in real-time.
Afghans are arriving with only the clothes they are wearing. We have provided food, clothes for children and adults, baby formula, diapers, hygiene supplies, children’s books and toys, and smartphone chargers (to enable communication with families and access to important legal documents on their phones).
We are also providing temporary housing for evacuees, and in Tajikistan, we are funding the renovation of an Afghan refugee community center.
The need for emergency assistance will increase as military and charter flights continue to evacuate vulnerable Afghans to safety.
We are more committed than ever to doing the right thing by our Afghan partners and demonstrating the best of America. Please help us meet their most urgent needs.
