Your Impact
With the help of our donors, Spirit of America raised over $2,800,000 to meet the urgent needs of Afghans who were evacuated by the United States after the Taliban took over. We provided food, clothes, baby formula, diapers, hygiene supplies, children’s books and toys, smartphone chargers, and blankets to more than 30,000 evacuees in Qatar, Germany, and Kosovo. In Albania, we were responsible for the daily needs, including food, education, and healthcare, of 121 Afghan evacuees as they awaited the resettlement process to the US, which ultimately took seven months. And in Tajikistan, we funded the renovation of an Afghan refugee community center and are supporting a school for 400 displaced Afghan children for two years.

The tragic situation in Afghanistan is heartbreaking — one that all of us Americans, regardless of our political stripes and our views on the two-decade-long conflict, can unite behind. Our Spirit of America team is helping Afghans being evacuated by the United States. This includes Afghans and their families who risked their lives working with our troops, and who embraced the promise of a free and better life.
Evacuation was just the first step in a long and difficult journey for these Afghans. Some evacuees now face up to a year of waiting in temporary locations before they are resettled in their new home countries and can begin to rebuild their lives. They had to leave behind not only their possessions, but also their jobs, friends, family members, schools, and so much more.
Spirit of America has provided food, clothes for children and adults, baby formula, diapers, hygiene supplies, children’s books and toys, smartphone chargers, and other essentials to evacuees in the Gulf region, Central Asia, and Europe. In Qatar, we worked closely with the US Army to provide more than 77,000 items for over 20,000 Afghans. This included 2,100 care packages to take with them on the next stage of their journey. In Tajikistan, we are funding the renovation of an Afghan refugee community center to promote education and vocational programs for youth. We also provided 5,000 blankets and hygiene supply kits to Afghans in Germany.
Currently, our team is on the ground in Albania providing humanitarian aid in real-time to a group of 121 Afghan evacuees vouched for by Rep. Elissa Slotkin and Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster. In addition to temporary housing, food, clothing, and supplies, we are working with a group of nonprofits to provide necessities such as healthcare, education, and employment opportunities for this group of evacuees, including nearly 40 children.
The resettlement process is long and arduous. We are committed to standing by our Afghan partners and making their lives as dignified and comfortable as possible while they wait to move on to their new homes.
100% of your donation to the Afghanistan Emergency Fund will go directly to help the Afghans being evacuated, with no overhead or operating costs deducted. We are proud to be rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator for our commitment to accountability and transparency.
