Home to 18 different religious communities, Lebanon is a land of both diversity and instability. The fragile economy along with the influx of Syrians escaping the civil war has compounded the security challenges in Lebanon, leaving room for ISIS ideology to take root amongst the country’s more vulnerable communities.
The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and their US Army civil affairs partners are working overtime to combat the spread of extremism in remotes area of Lebanon. Recently, the civil affairs team in the country identified a need for food supplies for low-income residents in Arsal municipality. Over the last several years, Arsal, which is close to the border with Syria, has been struggling to absorb thousands of Syrian refugees and maintain its own political stability.
Distributing food packs to the residents of Arsal allows the LAF and the Lebanese government showcase their commitment to serve and defend all the communities of Lebanon—and it helps roll back the influence of ISIS.
Help us provide 300 food packs to needy families in Lebanon and to counter violent extremism.
