Help first responders fight COVID-19 in Tajikistan
As our country navigates an uncertain world, our global partnerships and alliances are increasingly important in ensuring our prosperity and security at home and abroad. This is particularly true in Central Asia. In Tajikistan, a strategically important nation at the crossroads of China, Russia, and Afghanistan, our partnership is built on the foundation of the friendship and respect between the Tajik and American people.
Tajikistan’s health system and population have been particularly hard hit by COVID-19. Tajiks continue to bravely fight the virus until a vaccine can be produced and people return to a normal life. Their experience is all too familiar for us here at home: fear for the future, concern for the sick, and grief for lost loved ones.
Spirit of America is working with the US Embassy in Dushanbe and the local non-governmental organization AFIF to provide personal protective equipment, disinfectant sprayers, and other medical supplies to Tajik police and medical teams on the front line in the fight against COVID-19. In helping those who are on the front line of the pandemic, we demonstrate through our actions that the people of Tajikistan have no better friend than the American people.
