In early December, Syrian opposition forces swept across the country, seizing major cities and overthrowing the brutal Assad regime after a half century of iron-fisted rule. Thousands of Syrian families have been displaced by the fighting, further exacerbating what is already one of the worse humanitarian crises in the world.

Spirit of America is working with the US Special Operations personnel in Syria to provide emergency food and winter aid to over 1,000 of these displaced families. Many are part of the Syrian Kurdish minority.

In Syria, where millions are already displaced by the 13-year civil war, delivering international aid is exceptionally difficult due to sanctions, lack of security, and limited access. But Spirit of America’s relationship with the US military allows us to reach places that are often inaccessible to support those in dire need.

Working with the US Special Operations Command in Syria and local humanitarian partners, Spirit of America is providing urgently needed humanitarian aid to Syrian families who have been displaced by the recent fighting.

The following items will be distributed to more than 1,000 families displaced near Aleppo:

• 950 blankets to help keep families warm this winter
