Your Impact
Spirit of America spent $13,190 on metal detectors and other important supplies.
THIS PROJECT IS FULLY FUNDED. THANK YOU!
US troops in Syria are working with the Roj Mine Clearance Organization (RMCO) to clear landmines and buried explosives in territories recently liberated from ISIS. As the ISIS fighters are expelled from regions they once controlled, they leave behind mines and booby-traps, preventing the safe return of displaced civilians. In the last five years, an estimated 994 Syrians have been killed in mine explosions. Reducing this threat has become a top priority for the US military in Syria.
RMCO is a Syrian non-governmental organization that removes anti-personnel landmines, cluster munitions, and other explosive remnants of war. The group has already cleared approximately 10,000 mines in an effort to allow locals to return safely to their homes. While RMCO has been highly effective up to this point, the organization requires additional equipment in order to successfully carry out its mission.
With your help, Spirit of America will provide RMCO with 12 metal detectors and other critical gear. This program will not only save the lives of innocent civilians, but it will also support a vital US on-the-ground partner.
