ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Panjakent District is situated in Tajikistan’s northwest corner. The district’s shared border with Uzbekistan has in recent years left it vulnerable to cross-border incursions by extremist militants seeking use the region as a base for planning or as a stop along their route to join terrorist organizations in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. One of the most effective ways to inoculate volatile regions against extremism and civil unrest is to improve governing capacity at the local level. Competent governments that provide basic services for their citizenry are more resilient, able to withstand the ebb and flow of politics, social tension, and economic activity.

The clinic for people with severe mental disabilities in Panjakent District, Tajikistan.

The US Army civil affairs team in Tajikistan is working closely with their national and local partners to identify projects that help them better serve their citizens. In Panjakent, the district leadership highlighted the need to improve conditions at a local clinic for people with severe mental disabilities where 50 additional beds for long-term patients are needed.

The civil affairs team has identified this critical need to SoA and your support will allow us to help improve healthcare for people with mental disabilities in Panjakent and support the mission of our troops and diplomats in Tajikistan.

100% of your gift will be used to purchase what is needed for this project. Donations in excess of the project's needs will be offered a refund.
