Saving Lives and Limbs
Syria
Since 2011, more than 12,000 people have been killed or injured by land mines in Syria, including more than 3,000 children.

In support of US Special Operations Forces, Spirit of America funded a local Syrian organization finding and removing land mines planted by ISIS in northeast Syria.
The Roj Mine Control Organization (RMCO) teams fan out across land scarred by war, finding and removing explosives.
It’s dangerous but necessary work. However, despite RMCO’s efforts, large swaths of land remained uncleared.
But, with the help of our donors, we raised more than…

… $46,884 to remove the deadly explosives left behind by ISIS and to educate communities on how to avoid them.
The results were extraordinary.
In the second half of 2021, RMCO removed and destroyed 4,209 explosives, clearing a total of 113,135 square meters of land.

People have safely returned to their homes, children can now play freely, troops stationed nearby are safer, and life is beginning to return to normal, thanks to supporters like you.
