US Army Special Forces were advising and assisting the Peshmerga in their fight against ISIS. Every day, Peshmerga forces were taking significant casualties and losing momentum.

Master Sergeant Aaron Zwosta, U.S. Army Special Forces, contacted Spirit of America and said that the Peshmerga needed tourniquets to save lives and GPS devices to precisely identify their locations in order to avoid friendly fire casualties from US air support.
“There were immediate results, there were a lot fewer people dying on the front lines.”

Two weeks later Spirit of America provided the tourniquets and GPS devices.
With the assistance of the US Army Special Forces, the Peshmerga defeated ISIS in Kirkuk. $6,500 of assistance — exactly what was needed and where it was needed — from Spirit of America made a crucial difference.
