Supporting our Kurdish partners: Spirit of America is on the ground
Greetings, Kurdish forces have been essential partners of the United States in the campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Spirit of America is proud to have worked with US troops to support them. There is no doubt there are American servicemembers alive today because of the sacrifice of these partner forces. Right now, three members of the Spirit of America team – all US military veterans who previously served in Iraq – are on the ground in the Kurdish region of Iraq meeting with US military and State Department personnel to see how we can help. I’ll be there myself in three weeks. We’ll keep you posted on what we learn and what Spirit of America will do. Over the last five years, we’ve provided more assistance in Syria and Iraq than anywhere else in the world. Working closely with American troops and diplomats on the front lines, we have completed over 75 projects in Syria and Iraq to support partner forces and local people. In Syria, we’ve completed 45 projects at a cost of $764,189, providing assistance at exactly the point of need: emergency food relief, heaters for elementary schools, hospital beds, and x-ray machines. To help children who survived ISIS we provided school supplies, backpacks, blankets, and sports equipment. It’s summarized in this chart:
In Iraq, we’ve provided metal detectors, first aid kits, and medical equipment to Kurdish Peshmerga and Iraqi soldiers. Everything in response to what US troops say is needed to help their partners. Here are Kurdish Peshmerga using metal detectors from Spirit of America.
