Dear supporters, In October we shared Spirit of America’s work to help a damaged school in Kobani, Syria, responding to needs identified by US troops defeating the Islamic State in Syria. We provided  needed school supplies. But with the urgent humanitarian crisis in Syria, we quickly followed up with a second project to help with medical care. This time we responded to another needed identified by our troops and helped a hospital in Shaddadi, Syria get back on line, enabling its staff to provide trauma care to a population who has suffered greatly. The 300-bed hospital, which was seriously damaged in the fight to liberate it from the Islamic State, lacked reliable electricity. Spirit of America addressed this critical need by providing a power generator that can function in rugged conditions. Now, doctors can operate during all hours of the day, saving the lives of both civilians and the United States’ Syrian partners who are trying to free the area of the Islamic State.
