A Life or Death Difference
Syria
Despite losing territorial control, ISIS has maintained a level of violent insurgency in Syria, forcing over 6.5 million people to flee their homes and seek refuge in ill-equipped camps.

US troops on the ground contacted Spirit of America to help meet the basic needs of these displaced Syrians, in order to promote regional stability and prevent the reestablishment of the Islamic State, a primary destination for Afghans being evacuated by the United States.

Within 48 hours, Spirit of America secured 1,650 boxes of food aid and 15,000 liters of drinking water for displaced Syrians who fled ISIS brutality.
A US officer best explained the importance of this project:
“When fleeing ISIS, civilians often leave with nothing but the clothes on their back. …”
“...They arrive at the screening points exhausted, disoriented, and nearly starving...”

“...With no food available, there were reported cases of people reverting to eating animal food and grass...”
“...The food aid provided by Spirit of America made a life or death difference.”

By improving conditions for these displaced Syrians, US troops and their local partners can better focus on the critical task of identifying and catching ISIS fighters.
Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, Spirit of America has been working alongside US troops on the ground to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
