What it means to save a life
What is it worth to save one life?
Below is a photo and message the Spirit of America team received from Ukraine. It shows how a protective helmet from Spirit of America saved the life of one of Ukraine’s volunteer Soldiers. Think about what this means to the Soldier’s parents, wife, and children. It is impossible to put a price on this man’s life.
Spirit of America has provided 9,298 helmets just like that one. And, they have given 9,296 bulletproof vests, and 20,640 first aid kits. In total, Spirit of America has donated 200 tons of protective aid to those on the front lines defending freedom and protecting innocent lives. Spirit of America is doing the most humanitarian thing possible in Ukraine: helping to stop the suffering at its source.
Spirit of America’s work is deeply personal to me. I served for 38 years as an officer in the United States Army. I know how terrible it is to lose a life and what it means to save one.
Ukraine is only one of the places Spirit of America is having an impact. Right now the organization is helping our troops and diplomats strengthen security and improve lives in Taiwan, Mozambique, Iraq, Syria, and 10 other countries.
I had firsthand experience with Spirit of America as the Commanding General of United States Army Europe. It was there that I saw Spirit of America has an impact even beyond saving lives. We know America isn’t perfect, but what we believe and what we stand for are perfect. Every day Spirit of America demonstrates the benefits of America’s values in practical, tangible ways. People around the world experience America at our best, as a force for good.
Please support Spirit of America. Save lives, and achieve the peace and security we all want.
Thank you,
Lieutenant General Ben Hodges
