Keeping Syrian families fed and warm this winter

Last month we quickly responded to events in Syria, helping US troops support local families. These families had been displaced by the movement of opposition forces as they swept the country, overthrowing the brutal Assad regime and giving hope to millions of Syrians who have been longing for a free and better life.

Within eight days of soliciting your support — and thanks to your generosity and the speed and flexibility of our International Operations team — our aid was in the country.

The food and blankets were then distributed, with the help of local partners, to Syrian families who had been displaced from Aleppo to the Raqqa province after clashes between opposing rebel forces.

“These displaced persons were extremely vulnerable both in terms of food security and winter preparation,” a US military partner told us. “The Spirit of America aid alleviated these challenges” and supported the work of the US and its partners to ensure security and stability in the region.

Your support of Spirit of America allows us to respond quickly to urgent needs that our US troops and diplomats identify. Thank you for helping us deliver hope and goodwill as a new era dawns for the Syrian people.
