Three years of Russia’s war on Ukraine

We are now in the third year of Russia’s brutal full-scale invasion. We must not forget about Ukraine’s fight for freedom and democratic values. While the US and other allies have provided meaningful financial aid, Ukrainians have sacrificed everything for the last three years and spilled their blood in a relentless fight for their sovereign right to exist.

With your support, Spirit of America has delivered over $59 million in aid to Ukrainians on the front lines. Thank you for saving lives and helping Ukrainians defend their freedom. Together we’ve provided lifesaving assistance to enable Ukrainian soldiers to identify threats, provide protection to the frontlines, and help them stay alive on the battlefield.

Spirit of America’s support to Ukrainian elite units has included:

    • 995 mobile phones, 593 tablets, 323 laptops, and 135 Starlink systems to support a secure communications network that has helped save countless Ukrainian lives. One US Army officer told us, “I haven’t seen anything this game-changing in the nine months I’ve been here.”
    • 465 sets of thermal mitigating gear to make Ukrainian soldiers invisible to Russia’s thermal drones. The gear reflects heat and conceals movement, which helps Ukrainian soldiers stay safe and undetected on the frontlines.
    • 367 surveillance drones: Drones and other unmanned vehicles have significantly altered the landscape of modern warfare. We have delivered hundreds of nonlethal surveillance drones to elite Ukrainian units with highly skilled drone pilots.
    • 10 drone jammers to disrupt the control, navigation, and video of multiple drones simultaneously. The pervasiveness of Russian drones and the threat they represent to Ukraine’s soldiers make nonlethal drone jammers indispensable. With your help, Spirit of America sent the first 10 drone jammers to Ukraine.  Our US Special Operations Forces partners were shocked at the speed with which Spirit of America was able to provide the drone jammers, which they’d been trying to do for over two years.
    • 387 rebuilt military trucks and 84 4×4 pickup trucks, vans, and SUVs to help Ukrainian troops move injured personnel, equipment, and stay alive.
    • 290 pairs of night vision goggles
    • 375 advanced trauma kits
    • And much, much more

We also have an update on an early investment we made in the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces (TDF):

Spirit of America provided the seed funding for the TDF’s Captain’s Career Course in November 2022. What began as a seven week course for officers with no previous military training or experience is now a three-month training program. Training directly impacts a soldier’s readiness and a unit’s success on the battlefield. It leads to better decision-making and fewer lives lost.

As of February 2025, the Captain’s Career Course has graduated 875 captains, of which 22 are now battalion commanders. With each captain commanding a company of 100 soldiers, and each battalion commander overseeing 250-500 soldiers, your support has helped Spirit of America’s initial investment impact over 90,000 Ukrainian soldiers.

Thank you for being a part of Ukraine’s fight for freedom and democracy. Your involvement is more important than ever. United we can continue to show America at its best and preserve the promise of a free and better life for all.
