Our vision for 2022

Happy new year.

A new year often brings new beginnings, new resolutions, or a recommitment to priorities. At Spirit of America, we remain dedicated to our mission — engaging citizens in preserving the promise of a free and better life.

What does that mean for 2022? Here are 4 ways we’ll work alongside US troops and diplomats to save and improve lives this year:

Support the safety and success of US troops and partners
We are committed to helping our troops counter the threat of terrorism in the Middle East and East Africa, such as in Mozambique, where the Islamic State has killed tens of thousands and driven over 700,000 people from their homes.

Spirit of America is working with US troops to support Mozambican Armed Defense Forces and locals who were forced from their homes by the Islamic State.

Demonstrate that the United States is a friend to all who seek a better life
Last year, we provided urgent humanitarian assistance to more than 30,000 Afghans who escaped the Taliban. This will continue in 2022. Already, earlier this week, we furnished a family community center and provided educational materials for kids at Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar, where displaced Afghans are screened and processed. We remain responsible for the daily needs of 115 Afghans in Albania. We’re also funding a school for 450 displaced Afghan children in Tajikistan.

Promote values shared by Americans and our partners and allies
In Mongolia, we’re working with the US embassy to support a free and independent press — a cornerstone of democracy — by providing professional training to journalists and media entrepreneurs.

Over 450 students at the Somoniyon School, for Afghan refugee children in Tajikistan, are receiving an education this year thanks to Spirit of America.

Strengthen relationships with allies, friends, and partners
The aggression and malign behavior of Russia and the Chinese Communist Party have emerged as significant and growing threats for the US and our allies. We are working with our military and diplomatic partners to strengthen ties in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Asia Pacific, among other regions, to deter this aggression.

Your support is the foundation of everything we do. We look forward to sharing more – and what you can do to help – in the coming weeks and months.

Sincerely,

The Spirit of America team

Spirit of America is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit working alongside US servicemembers and diplomats to improve their safety and success. In 2018, Congress recognized us as a partner in “supporting the missions of deployed United States personnel around the world.”
