Spirit of America earns 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for 4th consecutive year
For the fourth year in a row, Spirit of America has received a coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. Charity Navigator bases its ratings on nonprofits’ financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
“Spirit of America’s exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only 21% of the charities we evaluate have received at least four consecutive 4-star evaluations This adds Spirit of America to a preeminent group of charities working to overcome our world’s most pressing challenges.”
Since 2002, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating, its top distinction. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology.
Thank you for trusting Spirit of America with your donations. It’s important that our donors are confident we use their dollars wisely to preserve the promise of a free and better life by supporting the safety and success of US troops and diplomats serving abroad.
Spirit of America allows donors to support our Rapid Response Fund – our general fund – or to designate their gifts to a specific project. If you designate your donation to fund a specific project, 100% of your money will be delivered to US servicemembers with no overhead or operating costs deducted. Donations that exceed the requirements of an individual project will be offered as a refund to donors.
In addition to the 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, Spirit of America has received a Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency and met the stringent requirements to be included in the Combined Federal Campaign.
