Help National Guard soldiers build relationships with key communities in Kosovo

This project is fully funded. Thank you!

Your Impact

With the help of our donors, Spirit of America purchased $5,346.00 worth of toys for several orphanages and schools for disabled children in Kosovo. Your support will help U.S. servicemembers as they engage with Kosovo Security Organizations and key local community leaders to meet the needs of the population, promoting inter-ethnic harmony on Kosovo’s path toward peace and stability.

This project is fully funded. THANK YOU!

NATO has been leading a peace-support operation in Kosovo since June 1999 in support of wider international efforts to build peace and stability in the area. The men and women of the Hawaii Army National Guard are currently deployed to Kosovo to serve as Multi-National Battle Group East, which contributes to a safe and secure environment in Kosovo. As the Hawaii Guard Soldiers work to establish relationships with local communities and Kosovo Security Organizations, they encounter local civilians from a wide variety of ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds in need of assistance.

“Aloha” translates from the Hawaiian language as “Love, Peace, and Compassion”. It is a concept that promotes living in harmony and compassion with all of those around you. It’s the same concept that drives the selfless sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, who left their homes in Hawaii, to serve our nation in Kosovo.

The Hawaii Guard Soldiers reached out to Spirit of America after identifying shortfalls in the ability to purchase toys and educational supplies for several orphanages and schools for less fortunate and disabled children. As a sign of goodwill, in the spirit of the American tradition of generosity, the Hawaii Army National Guard Soldiers developed “Toys of Aloha” program. Working alongside the Kosovo Police and other security organizations, the Hawaii Guard Soldiers of Multi-National Battle Group East will generously distribute toys and educational items to Kosovo’s most vulnerable children. Through “Toys of Aloha”, our partners hope to bring joy to the community they are deployed to protect, and to foster an environment of cooperation across all of Kosovo’s multi-ethnic communities. Your support will help US servicemembers as they engage with Kosovo Security Organizations and key local community leaders to meet the needs of the population; spreading the spirit of “aloha” and promoting inter-ethnic harmony on Kosovo’s path toward peace and stability.
