Tyson Voelkel joins Spirit of America’s Board of Directors
I’m proud to announce that Tyson Voelkel has joined the Spirit of America Board of Directors. Tyson is president and CEO of the Texas A&M Foundation and a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve.
I have known Tyson for many years. Tyson’s accomplishments in business and philanthropy are impressive. But more than his accomplishments, it’s the type of person that he is that makes me most excited to welcome him to the Spirit of America team. I’m inspired by his lifelong commitment to service, the values he shares with Spirit of America, and his understanding that patriotism is about the actions you take to defend our freedom.
At the Texas A&M Foundation, he led the largest higher education capital campaign in Texas history. Under his leadership, the Foundation’s unprecedented growth has directly impacted over 12,000 students annually through scholarships and created opportunities for countless more by funding hundreds of programs and initiatives.
Through his years of service as a US Army infantry officer and now as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve, Tyson understands the challenges our troops face and the importance of supporting their missions — and local populations — in the world’s toughest places. He understands that national security is not just about military action. It is also about improving people’s well-being and demonstrating the values that America stands for.
